Directions

  1. Beat eggs well, add sugar gradually stir in vanilla and butter.  
  2. Sift flour and measure 4 cups and sift 5 more times putting the baking powder, soda and salt before sifting.  
  3. Add flour and buttermilk alternately to egg mixture, mixing after each addition until smooth.
  4. Roll dough ½ inch thick punch out circles.
  5. Fry in deep fat 375 until golden brown.
  6. Cool and roll in sugar.
